I'm not sure how many times I've tried to write this first sentence, how do I say goodbye to this summer? After all it's my last blog! I can't believe the road trip is actually over and I'm writing this in the living room of my apartment in the Bronx. Thankfully there's another great project from the CRNC called LifeInTheField.com that I'll be following and hope everyone who read my blogs will too!
I've been looking forward to the Republican Convention all summer long and now that it's finally here it's lived up to all of my expectations.
The Where is the Red crew has been attacked on this blog, on our YouTube site, twitter, and on liberal blogs for being four rich white kids on various occasion. Despite being Hispanic (and Chris Caraballo being Cuban), I haven’t really responded to any of these attacks over the past two and a half months, mostly because I don’t think my race has ANY relevance to the work I am doing whatsoever. However, on Tuesday, I was incredibly offended when I was told… I was not voting for Barack Obama because he is black, I don’t know any minorities, and finally… that Hispanic is not A REAL MINORITY.
On Tuesday, I spent the day walking around Denver seeing what people thought about Obama being the nominee for the Democratic Party instead of Clinton.
I'm shocked to find out how many McCain supporters are in Denver, some of which are unlikely suspects.
We arrived in Denver at 4am in the morning, got some rest and now we are heading downtown to see all that is going on. Keep checking back at the site, we will sure to have plenty of stories to tell and plenty of pictures to post. Have a good Monday!
As we have traveled across the country and worked for over 30 Republican races, we have come across a lot of college aged campaign workers. As we sit down in an office to work, or drive out to an event with these staffers, a common topic of conversation tends to be the Greek system. A lot of the people have been members of fraternities and sororities and we always laugh about the differences of a chapter at each place. In Henderson, NV I came across a fellow member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, Nevada State Senator Joe Heck. It was pretty cool to help one of my fraternity brothers in his efforts to get re-elected.
Today we headed north of beautiful San Diego to Riverside, California. Riverside is home to Congressman Ken Calvert, the representative of California’s 44th Congressional district. While Congressman Calvert won in 2006 with 60% of the vote, the campaign is not taking anything for granted and is geared up for a tough fight. We were happy to help the campaign distribute yard signs in the Riverside area.
If you’ve read my blogs or my bio you’ll see that I’m a hunter. The other day I met someone that also shares my passion.
Last night, Kerry and I accidentally found ourselves in a conversation with a Democrat who insisted on questioning whether or not we knew enough to back up our beliefs. His exact words after asking us how old we were: "You can't know you're Republicans, there's so much to life you don't know about, you haven't even seen the whole country." . . .
