Today we are in Columbus, Ohio, home of THE Ohio State University and one of the most competitive congressional races in the country.
For the next two days, we are going to help Ohio State Senator Steve Stivers keep the 15th Congressional District Red. Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, has been serving the 15th district since 1993, but is not seeking re-election in 2008. In 2006, she had an extremely grueling race, beating Mary Jo Kilroy by a less than a %. Ms. Kilroy is running for the seat again; hopefully State Senator Stivers can widen the 2006 margin. It is exciting to enter our first open seat. I think this is going to be an opportunity to make a big difference with our work.
There is an added twist to our stop in the 15th Congressional District. One of my good friends from Miami University is a staffer on Kilroy’s campaign. This is one of the examples in Ohio where I will be at odds with a friend from 9-5, but that’s ok; this district MUST stay red and we are going to work our hardest to help anyway we can.
We will be doing an assortment of things in the campaign office this afternoon and we will be going door-to-door with the Ohio Federation of College Republicans Exec Board tomorrow which should be a lot of fun. Stay tuned for more details of our time in Columbus.
