Today we helped out at Congressman Keller’s campaign office. We got through about 1,200 completed mailers. You wouldn’t think that folding paper, putting them in envelopes, placing labels on the envelopes, placing stamps on the envelopes, and then sealing them would take that much of an effort. Well, all three of us are hurting. Stuffing mailers is a strenuous activity, but one that I was happy to do. Seeing those boxes filled with the envelopes we stuffed was great. We’re making tiny differences but differences nonetheless.
The two staffers in the office, Rebekah and Josh, were really great to us. Rebekah joked around with us while we stuffed the envelopes and even played a little Death Cab (love it). Josh took us to lunch at Panera, a place I have actually been to before. We’ll be back there on Monday to finish up the rest of the mailers and there will be more fun I’m sure of it.
I never imagined we would be stuck in horrendous traffic, this is the home of Disney World! Shouldn’t it be all smiles and magic? A 20 minute commute that turned into an hour did not allow me to have a magical day.
Regardless I’m having a good time in Orlando and really look forward to the weekend here!
